Small Bronze Classic Heath Ashtray

Small Bronze Classic Heath Ashtray - Main image
$288 $480 In stock

This piece is cast in solid bronze by Nancy Pearce in her studio in Los Angeles. In Pearce's words "I seek to create an archive of everyday objects by casting them in durable solid bronze so that future archaeologists will have a few pieces of the puzzle to decode from my limited time on earth starting in the 1970s. When the original objects are long gone, the bronze artifacts will remain..." This piece is an homage to the iconic shape of Edith Heath's 1940s ashtray design.

I love the heft of this piece—it feels like a tiny sculpture. The bronze finish already has a nice patina forming after just a few weeks of use.

It sits on my desk now, and the weight of the solid bronze is so reassuring—you can tell it’s cast to last, not just stamped out. The finish has a warm, classic look that feels like it’s already been part of the room for years.

The patina on this piece is what sold me—it feels like a real heirloom, not some mass-produced trinket. I’ve knocked it over twice already and the solid bronze didn’t even dent, which says a lot. It’s heavy enough to stay put on the porch railing during wind, and the classic shape fits right in with
